Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Stewart Park Revitalization Project.
The project kicked off in May when members of the community — including us — gathered to begin the process of clearing out invasive plants. We then donated 500 trees, which were planted by volunteers over the summer. The new trees replace the invasive plants that had been choking out native species at the park.
After the planting, the Tompkins County Soil and Water Conservation District donated protective tubing for the trees to prevent damage by wildlife, particularly deer.
